This version uses a 4.00" J180 housing with isolated ground and a side battery connection. It is intended for installations where the alternator, engine mounting and belt drive are selected together to meet the battery bank’s charging requirements.

Heat-management features include twin cooling fans, an externally positioned rectifier and a heat-shedding finish. These features support sustained charging while the engine is running, with the final output depending on alternator speed and operating temperature.

A native 48V rotor and field system are used for this higher-voltage charging application. The large-frame design has a 138mm stator and black E-coating.

Features and benefits

Designed for charging substantial battery banks in marine and other mobile electrical systems.

Dual fans and an external rectifier help dissipate heat during charging.

External regulation allows the charging profile to be matched to the battery system.

TMS recommends the ARCO Zeus Bluetooth regulator for lithium charging and for control of alternator performance.

Technical details

Product code: AZ4603

Nominal voltage: 48V

Output class: 8kW

Housing: 4.00" J180

Ground configuration: Isolated Ground

Battery post position: Side

Pulley: 49mm K6, six grooves

Regulation: External only

Field type: P

Rotor poles: 16

Stator diameter: 138mm

Cut-in speed: 1,920 alternator rpm

Maximum alternator speed: 19,000 rpm

Maximum continuous operating temperature: 100°C

Compatibility and installation

Match the bracket spacing, ground arrangement, belt profile and pulley alignment to your engine.
